Hello DA - my name is Mary, and I recently graduated as a visual arts/studio arts major. So, as many of you more-experienced artists know (and less-experienced will become aware of), I'm in that period after school where I'm trying to figure out where/how art fits in and defines my life.

I'm a traditional artist, absolutely love drawing and painting, but then again I find myself drawn to making collages, prints, and taking photos because of the impulse allowed in the creation of image. So I think in my art you see that struggle - that tension between process and impulse. A tone that gives all my images, whether handmade or not, a unique sense of truly being mine as they are all questions asked and sometimes, if I'm lucky, answers recieved.

I don't try to photography and document my art, I try to represent my art in the images I capture of it. So I don't just scan a print, I try to photograph it in a meaningful way. If that makes sense. Because I think part of the experience of art is how you encounter it.
